The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), now called the ASTM International; tests different designs of specific products to see if they are acceptable to the standard. This is in relation to other products of the same design in the global market. This was formed because of the desire of engineers and scientists to standardize products and services and make these better and highly-improved. In addition to that, these products must have to be made safer and cost-effective. This is in answer to the global call of requirements for new standardization in line with developments in the industrial and environmental aspects of product technology.

Their formation started way back when railroad materials were not made of standard materials and there were frequent accidents that happens which involved railroad use. Rail breakages have been a problem at that time and lead to hurtling of railroad cars along the tracks resulting in horrifying accidents and death. Since then, these knowledgeable people developed a way to standardized material used in the construction of rails which greatly improved transportation through the use of the railroad. Nowadays, people are already keen in using this as a means of safe transportation unlike before. Today, this is the vision of ASTM International which is carried on for standardization of materials for the safety and protection of the general public.

With the same use of standardization methods, SpaCap spa covers underwent the same process and successfully passed the standards. ASTM made attempts to help develop the spa cap covers and test them using methods uniform with the others. However, in line with the spa covers, there is no other method used which is the best option and that is testing the insulation with the use of the cover, or the amount of heat that is lost over time.

A comparison was made between spa covers made of rigid foam and the spa cap cover. It can be readily seen that insulation works great for the spa cap cover because the water did not cool down. It makes use of air to form the insulation and steam is trapped in the air unlike rigid foam spa covers where steam is produced at the bottom of the cover, condenses into water, and goes back to the spa in the form of cool water thereby cooling down the spa water.

When looking for the best spa cover that works as a good insulator, it is best to purchase spacap spa covers because these are proven and tested, as well as passed ASTM standards which is better, safe and cost-effective.
